Co-founders Dan Lohman and Jan Andersen plan to concentrate on Pushup Social and relocate to CIC St. Louis.

(ST. LOUIS / Sept. 22, 2015) After careful consideration, Lab1500 co-founders Dan Lohman and Jan Christian Andersen are closing the entrepreneurial center located at 1500 Washington Ave. to concentrate efforts on their tech company Pushup Social. The Pushup Social team, along with many of Lab1500’s members, will relocate to Cambridge Innovation Center St. Louis (CIC) starting Oct. 1, with the space officially closing on Oct. 16, 2015.

“Three years ago, as we were working on our own startup ideas, we identified a need for a collaborative space where entrepreneurs could go to develop early-stage business ideas and connect with like-minded people,” explained Andersen. “We created Lab1500, to serve that community at a time when no one else was. Today, there are so many other wonderful coworking spaces serving that need, so this is the right time to focus 100 percent on Pushup Social.”

When Lab1500 opened in January 2013 it was the only drop-in coworking and event space of its kind in downtown St. Louis. Since then the facility has played a pivotal role in helping shape St. Louis’ tech and startup ecosystems. More than 130 entrepreneurs have called Lab1500 home and hundreds of workshops and events hosted at the space have brought thousands of people together.

Lab1500 has also served as a catalyst for success for numerous businesses and organizations, including LaunchCode, Domain Tech Report, VentureSTL, The League of Independent Workspaces,, Independent Youth and Gladitood. The space even helped introduce Lohman and Andersen to one of Lab1500’s first members, Yomi Toba, with whom they co-founded Pushup Social. Pushup Social is a technology that allows brands to add an online community to their existing website in a matter of minutes.

“Our experience with Lab1500 has been incredible and we owe a great deal of gratitude to our members, the startup community, and building owners, Tom and Lisa Carnahan, for their support. We also thank Lab1500’s sponsors Enterprise Holdings and Polsinelli for helping us provide the amenities and tools our members needed for success,” said Lohman. “We are proud to have paved the way for so many other awesome coworking spaces in the region and are excited to take Pushup Social’s next step at CIC.”

Welcome To The Program

The National Average

There is nothing better on a warm, spring day than finding a comfortable spot outdoors and getting lost in a good book. If you are in search of your next read, I highly recommend “The National Average: Welcome to the Program.” It is the debut young adult novel of St. Louisian and Lab1500 member John Bryant (some of you may also know him as Frostbite Ice Cream’s John Clopton)! It’s the month of October in St. Louis so naturally the Cardinals are in the playoffs! While watching the games, it has become apparent that there are many terms used both in baseball and the startup world. Maintaining a Team Culture At A Growing Startup

Team Photo 6

Today, the Pushup Social team is celebrating developer Kegan’s birthday with an evening out on the town! While birthdays are happy times around here, I stop to think why this particular one is bringing about so much more excitement than normal (in addition to it being a bit of a milestone birthday!) Perhaps it is because this is the first office outing since the company expanded its team, and the excitement is stemming from the opportunity to bond with the team, make memories and get to know each other!
